Basics of Blackjack Splitting etc

Additionally to the traditional Blackjack player choices as Hit (take one more card) and Standing option (ask for no more cards) all the gamers have the ability to benefit of the edge of extra player choices, such as Blackjack Splitting option, Doubling Down option and the less frequently used options as Surrendering option and Insurance.

Blackjack Splitting

The Blackjack Splitting option can be chosen in case the first two cards dealt to the gambler form two of the same value. The player then may split the first 2 cards making 2 separate and independent hands and get one more card for every hand. This option requires an extra wager that equals the original wager.

Example of the Blackjack Splitting: let’s pretend the first two cards dealt to you are both 8’s. (Actually this is the most successful example of situation when definitely use the Blackjack Splitting, as in other cases the hand would be counted as 16, that has an extremely great probability of going over 21 if the gamer hits and a small chance of winning if he stands). The gamer decides to use the Blackjack Splitting and split a pair and increases the initial bet of $5 to $10. In Blackjack Splitting the dealer gives extra card to every new combination. Imagine, the first hand was given the Ace and another hand a 5. The gamer stops on the first combination with the value of soft 19 and hits on another hand combination getting a 10 and losing with 23. Let’s say the dealer has 17, that signals the gamer is the winner on the first combination and loses with the second one. The Blackjack Splitting option is strongly advised for some hands (like Aces and 8's) and not advised for other ones, as you should never use the Blackjack Splitting option on a pair of 10's.  For more examples of the Blackjack Splitting look for the Blackjack strategy chart.

Doubling option

The Doubling option permits the player to increase his bet when he or she is 100% positive that just 1 extra card can make his/her combination stronger than that of the dealer. The wager is increased twice, though some casinos permit Doubling for less than two times. This chance is known as the Doubling Down option for less. The option of Doubling Down provides a huge edge to the gamer as he might gain a lot more. In case the player hand combination is a nine or a ten or eleven valued hand, it is advised that he doubles down cause there is a large probability of possessing a strong combination with one another card.

Surrender option

The Surrender though not very widely used has two versions. These versions are famous as Early and Late Surrendering option. Early Surrender option is the option that lets the gambler give up his hand combination and 0.5 of his or her original wager before the croupier checks his or her cards for Natural. This offers a bigger advantage to the gambler and that is the reason why it is practically never offered. The Late Surrendering option, however still rarely seen, lets the player give up 1/2 of his/her bet and his/her hand only after the dealer has checked his/her cards (it is worth mentioning that if the croupier does have a natural, no gamer is permitted to Surrender and all the gamblers lose with the exception of the ones that do have a Natural that tie).

Surrender is advised in cases when the gamer has a weak hand combination with a high probability of busting if he or she decides to hit against a croupier high facing up card.

Insurance

Insurance option is provided to all the gamers in case the dealer face up card is an Ace. In these cases, all the gamblers are provided to insure their bets against the croupier blackjack. The cost of the bet is usually half of the original one and pays off (if the croupier does have a blackjack) 2-to-1. In this case, when putting the insurance wager players risk just 1/2 of the original wager. But, the Insurance option is viewed as a pointless bet as only the guru card counters may say when the dealer MIGHT have a natural.
